FOIA Schedule 1 Part V includes:

Police and crime commissioners were created by section 1 of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011. There is one for each police area in England and Wales outside London, and each one's name consists of "the Police and Crime Commissioner for" followed by the name of the area. Police areas themselves are defined by Schedule 1 to the Police Act 1996.

They are held to account by Police and Crime Panels
