Main exam boards

This list is based on Joint Council for Qualifications - list of members. The above list includes the five awarding bodies for 'A' Levels and GCSEs (as listed QCDA website 1 2).

Joint Council for Qualifications

"The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) consists of AQA, City & Guilds, CCEA, Edexcel, OCR, SQA and WJEC, the seven largest providers of qualifications in the UK, offering GCSE, GCE, Scottish Highers, Entry Level, Vocational and vocationally-related qualifications." 3

JCQ's role includes assisting "the awarding bodies to work together to create common standards, regulations and guidance" and working to "ensure examinations are sat under consistent regulations". 3

Other awarding bodies

There are a more than 100 other awarding bodies in the UK.
